Design: Meg Hearding · Firewise

Where the Creek Was Meant to Be

At nearly 8,000 feet, this mountain property had been quietly waiting. Beneath years of pine needles, a dry creek bed lay buried — forgotten, but full of potential.

We restored and reimagined that creek as the spine of the design: a flagstone patio oriented toward the La Plata Mountains, anchored by Rocky Mountain Maples, and planted in the client's signature palette of orange and red. Firewise species replace combustible mulch throughout. The result is a garden that is alive with pollinators, safe for its mountain setting, and unmistakably of this place.

"Meg did a super job with design and has a wide knowledge of the types of plantings we wanted. Kaila and her installation crew were prompt, thorough and very pleasant to work with. We are very pleased with their design and installation, and would definitely recommend them."
