We are rooted in Durango and the Four Corners landscape — but the mountains we design for don't stop at the county line. Our virtual design service brings the same rigorous site-responsive approach to clients across the Rocky Mountain West who want a landscape that belongs to where they are, not a generic plan dropped onto their property.
Four steps. One continuous conversation.
We begin with a guided video walkthrough of your property, which you record on your phone. We provide a simple brief to make sure we capture what we need: sun and shade patterns, drainage, existing vegetation, views, entry points, and the character of the surrounding landscape. This video becomes our primary site document.
Using your video, a property plat or boundary survey, and follow-up questions, we develop a detailed site analysis. If you have existing CAD or architectural drawings, these save steps and help keep the project cost down. We work with satellite imagery and topographic data to understand grades, microclimates, and landform in relation to your design goals.
We develop a full landscape concept — planting plans, material direction, site planning — using the same process as our in-person projects. Plans are presented via video call, walking you through the design with full explanation of plant selection, material logic, and phasing recommendations.
For clients working with a local contractor or managing installation themselves, we can develop a detailed implementation guide: a step-by-step phasing plan, plant schedule, material specifications, and installation notes. This document is designed to translate a design into clear instructions that reduce uncertainty, contractor cost, and the risk of the design being misread.
Our Mountain West virtual service is best suited for clients who:
- Live outside the Four Corners region but within the Rocky Mountain states (CO, NM, UT, AZ, WY, ID, MT)
- Are building a new home and want the landscape considered from the start
- Have an established property that has outgrown its original planting or needs ecological rethinking
- Are working with a local contractor and want a design-led vision to guide the installation
- Prefer to manage installation themselves, in phases, over time
