Your Design, Built With The Same Care That Conceived It

The gap between a design and a finished landscape is where most things go wrong.

Plant specifications get substituted. Grade changes get simplified. Material selections get value-engineered into something adjacent-but-not-right. We close that gap by managing the installation ourselves.

Our installation team knows the design from the inside. They were part of the conversation. When a decision needs to be made on-site — and decisions always need to be made on-site — they know what the design is trying to achieve.

Columbine Landscapes — installation in progress
The sequence

Every project is different. The sequence is not.

01 Site preparation — Columbine Landscapes

Site Preparation

Clearing, grading, drainage work, and soil amendment where needed. We read the land before we break it — what water does, where frost sits, where the grade wants to go.

02 Hardscape installation — Columbine Landscapes

Hardscape

Paths, patios, walls, steps, water features, and structural elements. Set before planting so the design logic holds — not retrofitted around it.

03 Irrigation installation — Columbine Landscapes

Irrigation

Where applicable, installed in coordination with the planting design and rainscape logic — not a generic system laid on top of the design.

04 Planting — Columbine Landscapes

Planting

Sourced to specification, planted to the design, and established with appropriate care through the first season. Species, density, and placement follow the design intent precisely.

05 Final review — Columbine Landscapes

Final Review

We walk the completed project with you and address any adjustments before handover. The design is the standard — not a punch list.

Phased installation

Many projects are installed in phases.

Either because the scope is large, the budget benefits from spreading over time, or because it makes horticultural sense to allow early plantings to establish before completing the design.

We plan for this from the start — each phase a coherent and finished landscape in its own right.

Remote clients

Working with a local contractor?

For clients outside the Durango area, we offer a detailed implementation guide as part of the design deliverable — a step-by-step installation sequence with a full materials schedule, plant list, and installation notes.

Your contractor gets everything they need to execute the design as intended. Learn more about our Rocky Mountain & Mountain West service →
