Design: Natali Ittenberg · New Build Landscape

Mountain Creek Residence

A new mountain home became an opportunity to create a landscape meant to be experienced slowly and seasonally. Designed for retired homeowners who spend much of their time outdoors, the planting wraps softly around the architecture, creating movement, bloom, and visual interest from every side of the house.

A former gravel patch was transformed into a naturalistic dry creek that now carries stormwater safely away from the house. During rain, the sound and movement of water make the porch feel immersed in the surrounding landscape — less like a yard beside nature, and more like a home within it. Native flowering perennials surrounding the creek bring softness, seasonal movement, and a strong sense of the Colorado mountain landscape.
